Travelling has been a huge priority in my life ever since I first caught the bug when I was fourteen years old. I have been lucky enough to have a number of opportunities to travel. Below you can get a glimpse at the places I have been and my passion to experience the world outside of Minnesota. As a petite person, I also have a love of finding small spaces and my sized doors as you will see if you make it to the bottom of the page.
Italy : Italia
|
My first travel experience was to France and Italy when my mom decided that it was important for me to see some of the world, and in November of 2001, despite everything going on at the time, we travelled to France and Italy.
I next had the opportunity to spend time in Italy was through a six week program called Living Latin in Rome that is run every year by the Paideia Institute. This trip introduced me to a global community of Latin speakers, and it was also how I met my partner. He was also a participant. Working as the photographer for the Paideia Institute has given me the chance to travel back to Italy twice more, and it holds a very special place in my heart. |
France : Gallia
I've been to France three times - once with my mom, once as part of a trip on brother was leading through work, and once as the photographer for the Paideia Institute.
These pictures are all from the trip with my brother in 2015. We started in Paris and travelled through Southern France. |

Japan : Iaponia
|
My high school had a sister school in Southern Japan which offered me two opportunities to travel there and stay with host families. The first time I visited was for three weeks between my sophomore and junior years.
After high school, I decided to take a gap semester before starting college and spending that time as a student at our sister school. I went to school everyday along with my two host sisters and had the chance to participate in Kendo (a form of Japanese fencing) as my after school club. |
England : Britannia
The first time I went to England was through my university. The Education Department had a trip in January to a town just outside of London. We stayed with host families and each had a local school that we went to in order to witness and consider our similarities and differences. Although I was not even considering education at the time, I chose to sign up anyway, and I'm so glad I did.
The second trip I planned out for a friend and myself. The whole trip was put into motion in order to see a certain production of Hamlet on the West End. I saw it three times but also took several trips outside of London. |

Ireland : Hibernia
|
As part of the trip to England through my university, there were built in four days for each of us to do as we pleased. A good number of us made the quick hop over to Ireland.
Although many of my classmates spent most of their time just in Dublin, I only spent one day in the city where I explored the art museum and the library of Trinity College. The other two days were spent on two separate bus tours. The first took me to the Cliffs of Moher on the southwestern coast. The second tour took me up into Northern Ireland to the northern coast and an amazing natural rock formation called the Giants Causeway. |
